Bandinfo:
Weltschmerz is a black metal band from the Netherlands. Inspired by feelings of loss and melancholy about the downfall of the world, Weltschmerz delivers its own brand of black metal.
The band was originated by drummer Valr and guitarist Hræsvelg in early 2009 as a result of another band falling apart. They were quickly joined by vocalist Hreim.
Recently the band released its debut EP, called Cry For War. This twenty minute EP features five songs in the style of traditional black metal bands such as Mayhem, Emperor, Marduk, Burzum and Zyklon-B. It was later re-released on tape by the dutch Zwaertgevegt label.
After the release of the EP, the band started searching for a bass player. That's when Vidar joined, filling the vacant bass player spot and completing the line-up.
Currently the band is working on a follow-up to Cry For War, which will be entitled Nil Volentibus Arduum. This effort will also be an EP, but it will contain more material, making it about 30 minutes in length. More information to come!
